Hi Folks! Merry Christmas to you all! I hope this note finds you cozy and well, enjoying the holiday season. I do believe it's one of my most favorite times of the year! I envision snow... lots of snow... hot chocolate... elk hunting with my Soldier... a good movie sitting by the fire place... But then I quickly snap back into reality remembering sadly that my Darlin is not here, there is not snow for hundreds of miles, no elk in sight, and if I do have hot chocolate I'll have a fan blowing on me to keep from sweating. Hah! Christmas in south-east Houston is indeed different than Christmas in Colorado;) And where I'm going, it's going to get even warmer! I'm heading out tomorrow morning for Guam to spend the rest of December (and then some) with my family. I think most of you know I lived out there about 20 years ago when I was a little girl. So, I'm excited to go back and see how things have changed and spend some time with my family. I'll send updates from there I'm sure, so we can still all stay in touch.
Jerry is still doing well, so thank you for your continued prayer support. He has informed me that he has been sharing his snacks and goodies I've been sending... with a little mouse! Poor guy! I offered to send some mouse traps, but he said he found some over there. I'm anxious to see what he catches! I guess I said something funny on the phone the other day and he laughed so hard... it was so good to hear! Sometimes it hurts when I think about how much I miss him and the time we have to spend apart. But thankfully we've got nearly 15 weeks behind us! And most importantly, we are both right where the Lord wants us. As hard as it is being apart, God's grace has been abundant and we are so thankful for the relationship we have with Christ as well as the relationship He has given the two of us. Honestly, I don't understand how people live life without Jesus!
Before I headed overseas, I did want to include some pictures of me with the Rolands! They have been so kind to let me share a room with Kelley while I've been here trying to finish the last week or two of the semester. Thankfully, all reports are turned in, all papers are written, all labs are filled out, and all tests have been taken! Hurray! On a different note, we went and got the tree the other day and it was so much fun! I love tree shopping... even if it is at Home Depot:) Then Kelley and I made some Christmas cookies... these peanut butter kiss cookies are a Giese family favorite!
Thank you all again for checking back. I hope each of you have a great week! Please keep Jerry in your prayers as well as all of the other soldiers away from family and friends during the holidays. Also if you would please pray for my grandpa... he was admitted back to the hospital for another round of chemo.
Merry Christmas!
Jerry & Erin
All of us at Home Depot's tree farm picking "the tree" for the house! It smells beeeeaaauuutiful and looks so lovely with lights and ornaments. Even if I can't have a tree at my house this year, I'm glad I get to share trees with the family! After putting on the lights and decorations we turned on some Roland family videos from over 10 years ago... that was a hoot! Fun times. Oh, and notice the long sleeves... I think that was the ONE
coldcool day so far this winter.Kelley and I making some delicious cookies...
Me and my two "study partners." I was taking a test later on that evening and they wanted to come "help!" I'm so glad to be done with the semester! Hurray again! My laptop has been to Iraq and back... Don't you love the subtle message my husband was trying to give the Iraqis?
And last but not least, here is one of Jerry and I elk hunting in Colorado October 2007. It was fffffrrreeezzzing, but we had so much fun! I can't wait to go next year... Jerry will be back just in time!
